It was typical small-town America when someone first saw something that didn't belong. The sightings quickly escaladed from unusual lights acting in unexplained fashion to that of huge 8' tall creatures with giant bat-like wings. As the sightings of The Van Meter Visitor continued the creature grew bolder and closer to witnesses revealing more mysteries with a large single horn upon its head, able to emanate blinding light and a strange smell that disoriented witnesses. All the more terrifying were the visits from the dark as the monster remained impervious to bullets.
The identity of this mysterious visitor was never discovered. Over 100 years later, three internationally renowned researchers set out to Van Meter; shining their own light on this amazingly bizarre case. Filled with eye witness reports, historic photos, and current accounts of the paranormal, this in-depth book looks to discover what really happened in the town of Van Meter.

||Kevin Lee Nelson
nearly two decades Chad Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world
in search of the strange and unusual. From tracking vampires in
Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to
trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize
and searching for ghosts in Ireland’s haunted castles, Chad has scoured
the earth in search of the paranormal.
With a Masters Degree in Psychology, Chad has authored over 15 books on the supernatural, and extensively lectures on his fascinating findings.
The more bizarre the legend, the more likely you’ll find Chad there.
his first EVP in 1986 may have lead Noah Voss to be best known for
advancing the use of scientific equipment during investigations into
reports of the paranormal. Through GetGhostGear.com, he was first
in the world to exclusively offer paranormal investigating equipment
for sale in a dedicated online store.
Noah's authored books on local murder mysteries to that of the global UFO enigma in addition to publishing over 4,000 paranormal pages online dating back to 1997. Name the 'ghost' show on TV and he's likely turned them down - helping to keep him more infamous than famous.
Following the back roads since the 1990s has taken Noah through ghostly St. Augustine Florida, investigating the mysterious Winchester Mansion in California, going for the gone at The Bennington Black Hole in Vermont, haunted highways in Hawaii, looking for Bessie in Lake Erie, trying to get lost in The Bridgewater Triangle of Massachusetts, scanning for flying saucers on the summit of Mount St. Helens, werewolves in Wisconsin, ghosts of Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay, the Historic Bullock Hotel of wild-west Deadwood, the mystery Paulding Lights of Michigan, looking for what went wrong in Salem Massachusetts, prying for Pepie in Lake Pepin on the Mississippi, flying through the Bermuda Triangle, Voodoo in Jamaica, hunting Wendigo-Kan through Canada, UFOs in Mexico, and searching for Sasquatch in British Columbia.
is the best way to describe Kevin Lee Nelson's theories and research
methodology. As a student of Western Esotericism and American
folk-magic traditions, Kevin provides a unique perspective enabling him
to uncover and decipher symbolic information hidden within various
unexplained phenomena. Kevin's return to the Midwest after living
in Salem Massachusetts in the 1990s has allowed collaboration with Chad
and Noah on even more supernatural travels.
Kevin has investigated hauntings on ABC's Scariest Places on Earth, searched for werewolves on Discovery Channel's Mystery Hunters, and tracked vampirism in America on Discovery Channel's Travelers. He has also been a guest on The Unexplained radio Show and has professionally lectured at conferences across the Midwest for over a decade.
Kevin's personal mission is to seek out, record, and preserve our rich heritage of urban legends and modern folklore, and by doing so gain a better understanding of our own personal narratives. This is further illustrated by Kevin's personal library - the largest occult collection of fine and limited print releases in the Upper Midwest.
